Avatar: The Way of Water was a bit of a disappointment because my expectations were so high. Though it's good in its own right, it's not the presentation the original was. In the first movie, we were mostly introduced to the forest environment and animals as part of action sequences. This one spends a lot of dull moments familiarizing us with life in the water. That being said, Avatar: The Way of Water is visually stunning. It has a predictable script and it lags during those long dull moments. Also, I still had some questions: If our villain was killed in the first movie, how did we end up with him as an avatar, not to mention visions of "Luke, I am your father" washed over me when we realize who Spider's related to, and: When did Sigourney Weaver have a baby? It benefits from a cast capable of making this sci-fi environment and the story believable. The visuals are stunning and the CGI is incredible. The movie allows the viewer to suspend disbelief and immerse themselves in a world totally foreign to us earthlings.

One of the weaker music biopics I've seen from the post-Bohemian Rhapsody era, Naomi Ackie delivers a terrific performance as Whitney Houston, has its share of well-executed dramatic moments and hey, I can admire a film that left some audiences feeling educated, mainly that Houston was bisexual. But the issue with I Wanna Dance with Somebody is that it feels like a clichéd, "going-through-the-motions" type of film without doing anything to make itself more unique and interesting like with Rocketman and Elvis. I might as well have read Houston's Wikipedia page for all the difference it would've made. It doesn't help that the pacing is quite fast making this two-hour-and-twenty-minute-long film feel shorter than it actually is. I don't hate this film, I wouldn't go as far as to call it a film that was made solely for a paycheck but on the whole, I thought this was an underwhelming film that isn't quite the compelling fact-based drama it clearly wants to be.

I honestly have no idea what I had just watched nor how this film got nominated for anything, never mind won so much. It was way too long, too boring, and just induced me to looking at my watch over and over again, wondering when it would be finished. I can usually at least tolerate a bad film, but this was well-beyond tolerable. I never thought I could dislike a Michelle Yeoh film, but here we are.

At first, I was very skeptical to watch top gun two. The first top gun was the first of its kind and its impact and incredible filming of fighter planes would be hard to top along with Tom Cruise now being a lot older. The movie actually had everything the first one did suspense, love story, battle between egos, heartache and incredible filmed flight scenes. It can hold its own by itself, but very much like the story line connecting it to the first top gun. I will watch it again.

How does this movie have such a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes? The main character is hideous. I don't think I've ever shouted at a movie character to "shut up" before. He just constantly monologues, and his poor love interest sits there listening. The weird aggressive sex scene is supposed to be funny, I guess. Sex scenes were uncomfortable to watch - basically it was gay porn. I switched it off when he was lecturing the guy's mother atop his soap box. Dull, shallow characters, bland dialogue, and an obvious plot. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
